Bruce and me started this blog to share our journey of healthy living, and to inspire and enlighten others to do the same. Our sons Justin and Jeremy contribute to this blog.
Three years ago, I found out from my allergist that I had candida overgrowth. I had continuous health problems with fatique, brainfog, digestive issues, joint pain and exhaustion. Just to name few of the problems.
We did a lot of research—and discovered that my specific diet and nutrition were critical to addressing not just the problems I was facing, but the health issues that so many other people face every day.
I started to make changes slowly as I learned more about nutrition, the human body, and my condition. I cut out gluten, sugar, and yeast as much as I possibly could and made several other nutritional changes.
Although I did each of this in small steps, the end result was I lost 43 pounds, and feel so much better from when I first learned I had candida and started this journey towards healthiness. I the kept the weight off for over three years. Bruce has lost 40 lbs staying at his target weight for over three years.
It seems that better health these days is not so much a science problem, as it is an information problem. There are so many simple ways in which we can improve our health and quality of living, but at the same time there are so many dangers to our health in the foods we eat, the cleaning products we use, and even the air we breathe.
With Donna’s Healthy Ideas I want to share with you the things I’ve learned so far that really have transformed mine and my family’s lives, and to continue to share ideas, recipes, and tools you can use to better your health.
